What kind of skills that people need nowadays? It is not only critical thinking like what our teacher or lecturer told us when we were in Senior High School or college. Another skill that people need to have is analytical thinking. When critical thinking pushes us to think from a different perspective, analytical thinking encourages us to think with strong evidence and come up with a solution. We can assume that analytical thinking is the development of critical thinking.
What is Analytical Thinking?
The development of technology makes people able to make a different kind of job vacancy, which means there are many new problems that need to solve. Analytical thinking is helping us to think from the evidence and come up with a solution. Here the process of analytical thinking
- Identifying the problem
- Gather the information
- Developing the solution
- Implement the solution
- Review the solution whether to find which part that we need to improve
The process listed above is like the cycle that needs to be done to gain improvement. By identifying the problem, we can what things that we need to solve, what is the big picture of the problem. After knowing the problem, we need to gather the information related to the problem that we got. For example, when we know our problem is bad time management, we need to find what makes the time management our time management is bad, is it because of our motivation? Or maybe the distraction from people around us?
Then we go to developing the solution, the solution needs to suitable for our problem. Then we go to the implementation. Apply the solution that we found for our problem. Then after a certain period of time, we need to review our solution whether it works or not. If it is still not working well, we can repeat the step from the beginning.
So how we can improve our analytical thinking? We can apply it in our current role to solve the problem that we face in daily life. We can also join a class that related to analytical thinking.
